Maria Crossman, LICSW

Everyone experiences some challenges in life and managing these challenges can be difficult. My style is not only to compassionately listen, but also to encourage and help motivate you to “DO” and to make the changes you are looking for in your life. I provide mental health counseling for adolescents, families, adults, couples, and tele-therapy. I also provide supervision for social workers seeking licensure.

I am a native of New Hampshire, but my husband was formerly in the military and we were stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina for about 7 years. While there, I attained my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Directly after graduation I received my clinical license. I have provided therapy to at risk youth in their home, in the community, and in school settings. I have a passion for working with active duty soldiers, their family members, and with Veterans. Due to my experience, I can empathize with the unique challenges the military can present and enjoy working with service members past and present.

We recently moved to Vermont and I am enjoying becoming a part of this community. I plan to continue to grow Mindful Pathways into a multidisciplinary practice that meets the needs of the surrounding area.

I am a wife, mother of two beautiful children, and a proud New Englander. When I am not spending time with clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching the Patriots, meditating, practicing yoga, baking, and completing projects around the house.

testimonials

"I am so pleased that my teenage daughter, once so down on herself and extremely anxious, has become confident and comfortable in social situations, and has overcome fears which had seemed overwhelming when she first started therapy with Maria Crossman. Maria facilitated her progress patiently and compassionately, through guidance and encouragement, step-by-step and without pressure or judgement, using effective mindfulness techniques and realistic goal strategies. She worked with me to foster family awareness and involvement in the process. People have noticed the amazing transformation in my daughter’s outlook. A great lesson was understanding that making a mistake doesn’t make you a bad person. A memorable, powerful tool for conquering anxiety is the Venn diagram overlapping Emotional with Rational and meeting Wise in the center. Thank you, Maria! We are all very grateful."

Family Therapy

"I started seeing Maria when I was in 10th grade.  I made a connection with Maria from the start.  She found a slot for me after school and I saw her for a year.  I recommended Maria to my sister who also has been seeing her.  She goes out of her way to help and understands family dynamics which really helps in the sessions. She is warm and compassionate to speak with. Very non-judgmental. I highly recommend Maria!"
