Frequently Asked Questions

We have listed common questions our clients usually ask. If you have a question that is not listed here, please reach out and we will help answer you.

Please call (802) 767-7333 or use the Contact section and leave a message, I will return your call within 24 hours. When I return your call I will ensure you have at least 15 minutes of free time to discuss current concerns and reasons you are coming in for treatment. Please also have ready your insurance information.

After this initial consult, I will provide you with patient portal access to be able to complete initial patient paperwork.

If you have Medicaid, BCBS-VT, Cigna, or MVP you do not need a referral as I am considered “in-network” for these providers.

For most other insurance companies you do not need a referral, but please check with your insurance company for more specific detail.

During the initial appointment, you will participate in an assessment that looks at all areas of your life. We will take a comprehensive look at behaviors at home, school/work, and in the community, as well as medical and family histories. This thorough evaluation is important because it helps us to identify any psychological disorders, substance abuse disorders, or risky behaviors that need to be addressed in treatment. It allows us to look at core issues and truly understand your unique personal history. Using this information, we develop an individualized treatment plan that takes into account your strengths and the factors that motivate you to change.

Sessions usually last between 45-60 minutes. Typically we start off meeting every week (sometimes more, if needs are great) and over time as symptoms improve, we gradually decrease the frequency of our meetings. Deciding when to decrease meeting time is a collaborative process.

Fees vary depending on session type. See our Fees and Insurance section for more information.

You may schedule an appointment by calling the office Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. This number is (802) 767-7333. You can also send a message by clicking on the Contact tab. I will then get in touch with you to schedule an appointment.

Finally,  you may also access the client portal and request an appointment. I will confirm any appointment within 24 hours and you will receive virtual confirmation.

I am available to work with adolescents ages 13 and older.

A notice of 24 hours is required for all cancelled or rescheduled appointments. Missed appointments and late cancellations are charged $35. You will not be charged this fee in the event of an emergency or if your insurance company does not allow this charge. If too many sessions are missed however, discussion of transfer of your care may be discussed.

I accept cash or debit/credit cards.  You may complete a “credit card on file” form and your card will be charged only after a session has been completed. Payment is due at the time of service. If there is any hardship regarding payment, please discuss with your therapist to determine if you are eligible for assistance.

The relationship between therapist and client is protected by law and information cannot be disclosed without written consent. The only exceptions are if and when there is suspected child abuse/neglect or when the client threatens serious harm to self or others, in which case every effort is made to ensure the safety of those affected as required by law.

This is a small community, therefore if I see you in public, I will not acknowledge you as to protect your privacy. If you would like to speak with me, you are welcome, however under NO circumstance will any private information be discussed in a public forum.
